
It’s only August, but I’m already prepping the kitchen for autumn. Some people are big spring cleaners, but personally I find late summer to be the time of year to get the house in shape. A simple once-over of the pantry is happening this week, followed by a overhaul of the fridge which has some major condiment issues right now. I made a batch of my favourite fire cider last week, a new sourdough started (wasn’t happy with the old one), and some lacto fermentation of late summer veg are all underway. New season beckons a fresh start. This autumn I decided to go back to school on a whim (still not sure if it’s the right idea yet), so keeping myself healthy and organized will be key to my mental health and state of well-being. As a homebody, I haven’t had to worry about the common cold or flu for the last few years, but this year I’ll be taking the bus everyday and sitting in and amongst a entire cohort of people.
